As with most plant books, this publication primarily covers botanical and horticultural perspectives. It also aims to highlight the importance of the Pigface and Pigweed groups of plants, as food and water for both man and animal, historically and now. By appearance and perception, they are generally dismissed as minor plants in the landscape, with little, if any, real value. Almost all plant books that even mention these plants, do so far too briefly, therefore compounding the situation.
